Thailand replaced the old paper TM6 form with the Digital Arrival Card in May 2025, and it is now mandatory for every foreign national arriving by air, land or sea. It is free, it has to be filed within 72 hours of arrival at tdac.immigration.go.th, and immigration asks for the QR code confirmation. From August 2026 most travellers file it through the THIM app instead of the website. Beware third-party sites charging a service fee for a form that costs nothing.

A month in Chiang Mai working remotely wants 20GB at $16.00, and the 50GB plan runs 180 days for $45.00 if you come back through the year.
Scan the QR code while you still have Wi-Fi at home. The plan does not start counting until the eSIM connects to a Thai network, so installing a week early costs you nothing and means you walk out of Suvarnabhumi or Phuket already online, with Grab and maps working before you reach the taxi rank.
