Four thousand kilometres from end to end
Chile is the longest country in the world and barely wider than a motorway in places. The Atacama in the north is the driest desert on earth; Patagonia in the south is ice and wind. A trip taking in both is two internal flights and two completely different sets of conditions, and almost nothing in between is populated.
