Two monsoons, two different coasts
Sri Lanka has two separate monsoon seasons hitting opposite sides of the island at opposite times of year. Roughly speaking the south and west are wet from May to September while the east is dry, and the pattern reverses from October to January. It means there is no bad time to visit, only a wrong coast, and that plans get rearranged mid-trip based on what the forecast is actually doing.
